Weapons Policy

For the safety and enjoyment of all attendees of the Medieval Fae Fest, the following weapons policy is strictly enforced:

Peace Ties and Sheathing: All weapons, whether real, blunted, or costume, must be peace-tied or securely sheathed at all times while within the Jackson County Ag Center grounds. Peace ties must be of a contrasting color and visibly render the weapon incapable of being drawn or swung. Sheaths must adequately cover any blades or striking surfaces.

Permitted Items (with restrictions):

  • Costume Weapons: Items clearly intended as part of a costume (e.g., plastic swords, foam axes) are permitted but must remain peace-tied or sheathed. Waving or brandishing these items in a threatening or unsafe manner is strictly prohibited.
  • Blunted Metal Weapons (for demonstrations/performances): Participants who are part of scheduled demonstrations or performances may possess blunted metal weapons during their designated activity only. These weapons must be peace-tied or sheathed when not actively in use and are subject to inspection and approval by Medieval Fae Fest safety personnel.
  • Bows and Arrows (for designated archery range): Bows must be unstrung, and arrows must be securely bundled and carried to and from the designated archery range only. Use is strictly limited to the supervised range under the guidance of Medieval Fae Fest staff.

Prohibited Items:

  • Live Steel Weapons: Sharpened or unblunted metal weapons not explicitly part of an approved demonstration or performance are strictly forbidden.
  • Firearms: All modern firearms are prohibited on Jackson County Ag Center grounds.
  • Explosives and Pyrotechnics: Fireworks, smoke bombs, and any other explosive or pyrotechnic devices are not permitted.
  • Projectile Weapons (outside designated areas): Slingshots, crossbows (except on the archery range), and any other devices capable of launching projectiles are prohibited outside of designated activity areas.
  • Impact Weapons (not part of costume): Items such as clubs, batons, and weighted striking implements not clearly part of a costume are prohibited.

Enforcement:

Medieval Fae Fest security personnel will be present to ensure compliance with this policy. Any individual found in violation of this policy will be subject to the following:

  • First Offense: Warning and immediate requirement to peace-tie or sheath the weapon properly or remove it from Jackson County Ag Center grounds.
  • Second Offense: Removal from the Jackson County Ag Center grounds without refund.
  • Serious Violations: Immediate removal from the Jackson County Ag Center grounds and potential notification of local law enforcement.

Safety is our utmost priority. By bringing a weapon onto Medieval Fae Fest grounds, you agree to adhere to this policy and follow the instructions of Medieval Fae Fest staff.

We thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe and enjoyable Medieval Fae Fest for everyone!
